Express your gratitude

As we gear up for the holiday season, and with Thanksgiving just around the corner in the U.S., I’m reminded of a tradition I often share at this time of year—one that I encourage you to bring to your dinner table. This year, you have a couple of options.

Whether you’re enjoying a Thanksgiving feast or simply sharing a meal with family and friends, take a moment to express your gratitude. Say,

“I appreciate ______________ (mention something specific you value about them).”

It’s a heartfelt gesture that lets our loved ones know they are truly seen by us. Feel free to invite others to join in and share their appreciation if they wish.

Another option is to distribute blank paper and writing utensils to each person. Have each guest write their name at the top of the page and then pass the papers around. Encourage everyone to write an appreciation about the person whose name is on the paper. If it feels right, you can even read them aloud.

I would love to hear how it goes! Email your reply here at amy@clarity4action.org and share your experience with me.

Warm gratitude,
