Rainbow Over the Valley

I eat a live frog every morning

You might already know that I live on an urban farm with a frog pond. And what you might not know is that I eat a live frog every morning. Now, it’s not a real live frog but it kind of feels like it sometimes.

A friend told me recently about a great quote by Mark Twain that essentially says, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and it’s the worst thing you’ll do all day.”

Sometimes when we try to take action we can get bogged down in self-talk like

  • I don’t feel like it
  • I’m really stressed out
  • I hate things like this
  • I’m not good at it

My husband, Cliff, and I decided to commit to eating ONE LIVE FROG A DAY no matter what. We both have big plans in life and what gets in the way are the frogs.

Do you ever make a big decision, feel excited, and get stuck taking action on the next step? Sometimes it can feel like drudgery! You know what you need to get it done so

ask yourself:

  • Where do I get bogged down?
  • What feels like a frog?

And then…

  • EAT IT!

What’s been interesting about this practice is when I do it, it’s a lot easier than I thought it would be. There’s something to this idea of just taking action on something that I know I need to do. Do it quickly. Just get it over with. Because if it’s ‘the hardest thing,’ everything is easier afterward.

I support you 100% in eating a live frog first thing in the morning, not literally but figuratively.

Hit reply and let me know what frogs you’re eating!

    Happy decision making,

    Amy Day
